Lewis Black: Cantankerous comedian Lewis Black has worked audiences into almost as big of a frenzy on tour dates as the ones he works himself into. Lewis Black's comedy usually sets its sights on boneheaded political figures, but also includes jabs at society as well. He has appeared in numerous movies, performed half a dozen televised stand-up specials, and has had his own show on Comedy Central. Even with regular appearances on The Daily Show, a continuous stream of books being released, and upcoming movie roles, Lewis Black still finds times for stand-up tour dates in 2011.

Lewis Black began his career as a playwright after graduating with a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from the Yale School of Drama. He was the assistant artistic director and resident playwright at the West Bank Cafe Downstairs Theatre bar in New York City for years. After leaving the theater, Lewis Black pursued a career in stand-up, performing tour dates around NYC at clubs like Carolines on Broadway. Black toiled mainly in obscurity for years until 1996, when he earned his own segment on The Daily Show called Back in Black. In 1998, he received his own stand-up special on Comedy Central Presents, and would appear on the program two more times in the coming years.

In 2004, he was given his first televised stand-up special on HBO, titled Black on Broadway. HBO gave him another special called Red, White, and Screwed in 2006; the same year he appeared as the outspoken dean in Accepted. In 2007, Lewis Black received his first Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album for The Carnegie Hall Performance. In 2008, Black was given his own show on Comedy Central titled Root of All Evil, where Lewis ruled over debates held by other stand-up comedians. In 2009, Lewis Black performed his latest stand-up special, Stark Raving Black, the audio version of which recently won him his second Grammy for Best Comedy Album.

Lewis Black is currently performing as a voice actor on a number of children's shows and has just finished roles in two upcoming movies. He also has upcoming tour dates in 2011, beginning on July 28 at the Nantucket Comedy Festival. From November 6-13, Lewis Black is hosting a Caribbean cruise comedy tour of all things, called the Lewis Black Comedy Cruise, at which he will perform. Lewis Black's scheduled tour dates for 2011actually end on January 7, 2012; while there are plenty of concert dates left, Black won't be visiting the entire country, so buy your tickets soon.
