KEM: Perseverance, belief in one's abilities, and pure talent were the ingredients of success for R&B recording star Kem. He battled addition and isolation before producing his star-turning debut album while in his mid-thirties. Now, the R&B crooner is on tour to share his story, and his music. Kem concert dates are currently scheduled nationally and he has paired up with soul-songstress, Ledisi, for a national tour.

Kem grew up in Nashville, Tennessee but was raised in the rough part of Detroit. He was exposed to drugs and to music at an early age, believing that the latter would be his salvation and his way out. He learned to play the piano at age five and honed his signature upper-range vocals in high school. After graduation, the singer found himself in rehab and eventually in homeless shelters. Kem rediscovered himself, his love of music, and vowed to turn his life around. He became a waiter by night and a wedding singer by weekend while self-producing his music. By 2002, Kem had enough material to release his debut album "Kemistry". The self-produced album, was also self-released and he managed to sell more than 10,000 copies before attracting the attention of famed Detroit label, Motown. The album was re-released and Kem was signed to a five-album deal.

The re-released version of "Kemistry" managed to achieve Gold status in the US and his single "Love Calls" became a top draw on R&B radio. Kem returned to the studio to craft his sophomore set, "Kem II", which was released in 2005. The album featured the lead off single "I Can't Stop Loving You", and was certified Gold only weeks later. For the album and the single, Kem received two nominations at the NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Male Artist and Outstanding Song. In support of the album, Kem tour dates had him traveling the country and performing alongside the great Chaka Khan and Vivian Green. Kem was even invited to the White House to perform during Black Music Month and has performed at other famed venues such as Carnegie Hall.

Kem released his third album, "Intimacy: Album III" in August, 2010. The successful album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and featured the singles "Why Would You Stay" and "Share My Life". In support of the album, Kem tour dates are slated throughout 2011. Kem's concert schedule includes a national tour alongside Ledisi this spring and summer, 2011. Don't miss out on Kem's inspirational story and smooth R&B vocals this summer, in your area. Use Eventful as your source for Kem tour dates and concert schedule information.
