Alicia Keys:
Though she's recently taken some time off to raise a family, Alicia Keys remains one of the most talented R&B musicians of the past decade. With an astounding 14 Grammys won and over 30 million albums sold, Keys retains a special place in the mainstream music world as a "Queen of R&B." While Alicia Keys hasn't released an album in a few years, she recently released a 10th Anniversary Edition of Songs in A Minor. She also newly performed a few intimate 2011 tour dates that ended in June, proving that Alicia Keys isn't done with music just yet.
A classically trained pianist, Alicia Keys mainly produced soundtrack contributions until the release of her debut album, Songs in A Minor, in 2001. The album has gone platinum six times and won Keys five Grammys that year, catapulting the artist into the upper echelons of stardom. Successful tour dates followed and Keys experienced similar success with her follow-ups, The Diary of Alicia Keys and As I am. Alicia Keys is also the only female artist to have an MTV Unplugged album reach #1 on the charts. The album capitalized on the popularity of Alicia Keys' tour dates, where the overall focal point is Alicia at her piano.
Since her marriage to Swizz Beatz and the birth of her son in 2009, Alicia Keys has remained out of the public and commercial eye, which is the reason for so few tour dates in 2011. Only time will tell when Alicia Keys will return full-time to her career, so keep a keen eye out for any news on her return.
